For when you’re craving something chocolate but want it fast and easy. This mug cake is packed with chocolatey goodness and perfect solo or topped with a dusting of powdered sugar.

Equipment

  • 8oz microwave-safe mug
  • Fork
  • Measuring Spoons

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/8 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 2 tbsp canola oil
  • 1 tbsp beaten egg
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp hot water
  • 1 tbsp chocolate chips

Instructions

  • In a microwave-safe mug (about 8 oz), whisk together with a fork your flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined
  • To your mug, add the milk, oil, beaten egg, and vanilla extract. Pour in your hot water and stir everything until smooth and well combined. Lastly, fold in your chocolate chips.
  • Place your mug in the microwave and cook on high for 70 seconds, allowing it to set for 1 minute. Check your cake, if it is too wet in the center, microwave for an additional 10-20 seconds.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes (it will be very hot!) and then enjoy as is or dusted with powdered sugar or whipped cream (or both, you do you!). This also pairs deliciously with a scoop of ice cream
