Whip up a funfetti mug cake in just 5 minutes for a quick, single-serving dessert that’s soft, fluffy, and full of sprinkles. Add vanilla frosting on top if you please (but I mean, who’s passing up on frosting?)!

Equipment

  • 10-12oz mug
  • Spatula
  • Measuring Spoons

Ingredients

CAKE
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • tbsp sugar
  • tsp baking powder
  • tsp salt
  • 2 ½ tbsp milk
  • 2 tsp butter melted
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tbsp rainbow sprinkles
FROSTING (optional)
  • 2 tbsp butter room temperature
  • cup powdered sugar
  • Splash vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In your mug, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt
  • Add milk, oil/butter, and vanilla. Stir until smooth
  • Gently fold in the sprinkles
  • Microwave on high for 45–60 seconds. The top should look set but still soft
  • Let it cool for 1 minute, then dig in (or add frosting because life is short).
  • For a quick vanilla frosting: sift your powdered sugar over your butter in a bowl and beat with a spatula until smooth. Mix in a splash of vanilla and spread over the top! If the frosting seems too stiff, add in a splash of milk, as needed, to loosen.

Notes

*I prefer the flavor of the butter in the mug cake, but you can swap it for a neutral oil (like canola) if you please
