Whip up a funfetti mug cake in just 5 minutes for a quick, single-serving dessert that’s soft, fluffy, and full of sprinkles. Add vanilla frosting on top if you please (but I mean, who’s passing up on frosting?)!
10-12oz mug
Spatula
Measuring Spoons
CAKE
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1½ tbsp sugar
- ⅛ tsp baking powder
- ⅛ tsp salt
- 2 ½ tbsp milk
- 2 tsp butter melted
- ¼ tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tbsp rainbow sprinkles
FROSTING (optional)
- 2 tbsp butter room temperature
- ⅓ cup powdered sugar
- Splash vanilla extract
In your mug, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt
Add milk, oil/butter, and vanilla. Stir until smooth
Gently fold in the sprinkles
Microwave on high for 45–60 seconds. The top should look set but still soft
Let it cool for 1 minute, then dig in (or add frosting because life is short).
For a quick vanilla frosting: sift your powdered sugar over your butter in a bowl and beat with a spatula until smooth. Mix in a splash of vanilla and spread over the top! If the frosting seems too stiff, add in a splash of milk, as needed, to loosen.
*I prefer the flavor of the butter in the mug cake, but you can swap it for a neutral oil (like canola) if you please
