Quick & Delicious Cinnamon Scones (Easy Scone Recipe)
These are the easiest cinnamon scones you’ll probably ever make, and they simply melt in your mouth.
This recipe comes to you from my Aunt Marilyn, who is a real queen in the kitchen. She first brought a tub of these irresistible scones to our yearly family reunion at the Outer Banks.
Whether you want to add a sweet to your breakfast table or a treat to have with your afternoon tea, these scones are the perfect pairing for any occasion.

EASY CINNAMON SCONES
This easy scone recipe comes together in one bowl. That’s right, people. This recipe is delicious and cuts down on your dishes. What more could you want?
The heavy cream does all the lifting, since there is no butter in these scones. Creating a softer texture once baked.
The creaminess of the glaze, working with the spice of the cinnamon chips, makes them the perfect treat for your breakfast line-up.
These scones may seem small when you’re cutting them… but the wedges will puff as they bake, making them the perfect treat for a hungry crowd.

INGREDIENTS
- Flour: provides structure and body to the scones.
- Baking powder: helps the scones rise and become fluffy.
- Salt: enhances flavor and balances sweetness.
- Sugar: adds sweetness to the dough.
- Cinnamon chips: infuses cinnamon flavor and adds bursts of sweetness.
- Heavy whipping cream: moistens the dough and contributes to a tender texture.
- Powdered sugar: used for the glaze to add a sweet finishing touch.
Where do I find cinnamon chips? I use Hershey’s cinnamon chips for this recipe, but feel free to use any brand you prefer.
HOW TO MAKE CINNAMON SCONES
Preheat your oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Sift the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar into a bowl and stir with a fork to combine. Add the cinnamon chips and mix evenly.
Make a well in the dry ingredients and pour in the heavy whipping cream. Stir with a fork until the dough comes together.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead about 10 times — it will be sticky, but that’s okay.
Divide the dough in half and form two balls, then flatten each into a 7-inch disc. Cut each disc into 8 wedges.
Place the scones on the prepared baking tray about 1 inch apart. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until just lightly golden, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
To make the glaze, sift the powdered sugar over the heavy cream and whisk until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled scones and let them set at room temperature until no longer sticky.

3 reasons you’ll love these scones
TIPS & VARIATIONS
- The dough will still have some loose bits when you transfer it to the table to knead. As you knead it together, it will combine.
- Your dough may be a little sticky as you cut it into triangles. For ease, dust your knife in flour to make cutting smoother.
- If chocolate is more your vibe, switch the cinnamon chips for your preferred chocolate chips and enjoy as is. You can also sprinkle with a little sugar on top as soon as the scones come out of the oven, if desired.
- The glaze is optional (but delicious). You don’t have to drizzle it over the scones though. They will still be incredibly yummy!
STORING YOUR CINNAMON SCONES
Once baked and cooled, store your cinnamon scones in an airtight container. They will keep for up to 4 days at room temperature or in the freezer for up to 2 months.
